About David M Gilbert
Experienced Genetic Researcher
As a senior investigator with the San Diego Biomedical Research Institute (San Diego BioMed), in San Diego, California, Dr. David M Gilbert builds upon a history of genetic research that dates back to the early 1990s. After securing his PhD from Stanford, he conducted postdoctoral research on transcriptional induction by the human estrogen receptor at the University of Strasbourg, France. Dr. David M Gilbert subsequently studied mammalian cell DNA replication initiation as a fellow of the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology.
David M Gilbert, PhD, went on to serve a series of academic and research positions with the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University, and Florida State University (FSU). His accomplishments at SUNY Upstate include the President’s award for excellence in research by a young investigator and the NIH Career Enhancement Award for Stem Cell Research. While employed at FSU, Dr. Gilbert established a new computational biology major, co-founded the Center for Genomics and Personalized Medicine and published more than 125 scholarly articles.
